Weekend Box Office. "Split" from director M. Night Shyamalan starring James McAvoy as a sociopath with multiple personalities was number one with $26.2 million, "A Dog's Purpose" the family friendly movie about a dog's journey from master to master through reincarnation was number two with $18.3 million "Hidden Figures" the true story of the brilliant African-American women who while working for NASA greatly contributed to the U.S. space program was number three with $14 million.

"The Great Wall" is scheduled to open in theaters on February 17. The movie
starring Matt Damon and directed by Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), is Zhang Yimou's first English language film and was shot entirely in China. The Great Wall is the story of a mercenary who discovers the mystery behind the amazing structure as he joins the elite fighting force in their struggle to protect all of humanity. "John Wick: Chapter 2" Keanu Reeves returns as the retired hit man who doesn't seem able to stay retired.This time he is targeted by assassins and his house blown up when he refuses to take on a job.He comes back to settle the score and end the contract on him the only way he possibly can, by getting to the man who put out the contract and taking out anyone who gets in his way.    

                                                                          

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" the live-action version of the beloved animated feature will open in theaters on March 17. Emma Watson is Belle and Dan Stevens is The Beast. Also starring Kevin Kline, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson.

                                                                    

"The LEGO Batman Movie" is scheduled to open in theaters on February 10. Weekend Box Office. M. Night Shyamalan's "Split" starring James McAvoy as a sociopath with multiple personalities was number one with a $40.2 million opening weekend, "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" starring Vin Diesel as extreme sports enthusiast/reluctant secret agent was number two with $20 million, and "Hidden Figures"  the true story of the brilliant African-American women who while working for NASA greatly contributed to the U.S. space program was number three with $16.3 million.

                                                                     

"Power Rangers" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 24. The movie version of the popular t.v. series is updated for a whole new generation. Five teenagers from the town of Angel Grove are gifted with powers and brought together to save their town and the whole world from an evil alien threat known as Rita Repulsa.

                                                                          
                                                                               
           
"Logan" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 3. The second trailer for the upcoming movie that is intended as Hugh Jackman's swan song, as he bids farewell to the iconic character he has played since the 2000 movie "X-Men". The movie introduces some classic Wolverine and X-Men villains like the cyborg Donald Pierce and his group The Reavers, and possibly even Mister Sinister in pursuit of a young girl that is the epitome of Wolverine. 

                                                                                

"Kong: Skull Island" opens in theaters on March 10. As advertised, from the producers of the 2014 movie "Godzilla" we get a updated version of the legendary King Kong. A re-imaging of the classic story of the trip to Skull Island and the discovery of Kong. The movie stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, and John C. "Justice League Dark" is available to own today on Digital HD and on Bluray/DVD on February 7. The latest DC Animated movie introduces the mystical heroes of the DC Universe who have banded together to combat mystical threats too great for the combined might of the Justice League. Weekend Box Office - "Hidden Figures" the true story of the brilliant African-American women behind the famous NASA moon landing was number one with $20.4 million, "La La Land" the musical tale of the romance between a jazz musician and an aspiring actress was number two with $14.5 million, and "Sing" the animated, family friendly movie from the same studio behind the "Despicable Me" movies was number three with $13.8 million.

                                                                                 

"XXX: Return of Xander Cage" opens in theaters this Friday. Vin Diesel reprises the role he created in the original "XXX".The movie is action packed showcase for extreme action and showcasing extreme sports stunts. Also starring Deepika Padukone, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Rory McCann, Ruby Rose, Toni Colette, Nicky Jam and Samuel L. Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is scheduled to open in theaters on March 17. "Powerless" premieres Thursday, Feb.2 at 8:30 pm on NBC. Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, Ron Funches and Alan Tudyk. The story follows wide eyed Emily Locke (Hudgens) who moves to Charm City to become Director of Research and Development for Wayne Security. "Justice League Dark" arrives on Digital HD on January 24 and Blu-ray/DVD February 7, 2017. When the Justice League encounters a threat that their powers are rendered useless against that revolves around magic. "The Bye-Bye Man" opens in theaters this Friday the 13th. A group of college kids unintentionally stumble onto the secret of a terrible curse called The Bye-Bye Man. Unfortunately for them, once you know about him he can get into your head, he can control you, and make you do terrible things until he brings about your death. 

                                                                        
                                                                         

"XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" scheduled to open in theaters on January 20. Vin Diesel returns as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast turned government agent recruited for his skill and his ability to improvise on the fly. "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is scheduled to open in theaters on January 27. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, a survivor of the original tragedy which turned out to be part of a plan to wipe out humanity. With a few of the remaining survivors left in the war against hordes of the undead, Alice returns to Raccoon City, where the whole nightmare began. "The LEGO Batman Movie" is scheduled to open in theaters on February 10. Spinning out of "The LEGO Movie", Will Arnett reprises his role as the voice of LEGO Batman. The Joker is staging a takeover of Gotham City and in order to stop him Batman will have give up being solitary and learn to work well with others. In the process he might just have some fun and maybe, just maybe, he might lighten up and not take himself so seriously. Weekend Box Office - "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" the prequel to "Star Wars: A New Hope" was number one with $49.5 million, "Sing" the animated feature from Illumination the studio behind the "Despicable Me" movies was number two with $42.8 million, and "Passengers" the science-fiction romance starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence with $16.1 million.


                                                                         

"Underworld: Blood Wars" opens in theaters this Friday. The latest chapter in the "Underworld" franchise finds Selene the Vampire caught between the Lycans and the Vampires in a war that has continued for centuries. "Alien: Covenant" is scheduled to open in theaters on May 19, 2017. Director Ridley Scott brings a new level of fear to the franchise he created. "American Gods" the upcoming Starz original series based on the bestselling novel by Neil Gaiman will debut this year. The series follows Shadow Moon who after recently being released from prison and the sudden death of his wife is recruited as a bodyguard for the mysterious Mr. Wednesday. Shadow Moon suddenly finds his whole reality redefined as he finds that magic is real and gods not only exist, but they intent to reclaim their power and influence in today's modern society.
