Weekend Box Office - "The Wolverine" starring Hugh Jackman was number one bringing in $55 million in its opening weekend, "The Conjuring" was number two with $22.1 million, and "Despicable Me 2" rounded out the top three with $16 million.
 
 
 
 
 
"Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters" based on the second in a the series of books by Rick Riordan which brings the stories of the gods of Mount Olympus and their half-human offspring to the modern day. The focus of the stories, Percy Jackson, is the half-human son of Poseidon. In this the sequel to "Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief", the character is again brought to life on screen by actor Logan Lehrman.
 
 
                                                                                
 
                                                                                    
 
 
 
"Elysium" starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster is the story of the great divide between the poor and downtrodden and the wealthy and privileged in a sci-fi action-adventure. Written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, the writer and director of the sci-fi movie "District 9".
 
 
                                                                                       
 
Apparently, I jumped the gun when I indicated that "Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox" was being released last week. The actual release date is today. Imagine my surprise when I went out looking for it and found I was a week early.
 
 
                                                                               
 
"Kick Ass 2" is an example of the premise that all comic book movies are not cut from the same cloth. This movie is a classic example of how comic books have evolved past being just silly kid fare and into the realm of bona fide entertainment suitable only for grown-up taste. Weekend Box Office - "The Conjuring" was number one with $41.5 million, "Despicable Me 2" was number two with $25.1 million, and "Turbo" rounded out the top three with $21.5 million.
 
 
                                                                       
 
 Hugh Jackman really began his meteoric rise to fame after being introduced to American audiences as the mysterous X-Man Logan a.k.a. Wolverine in the movie "X-Men". Since then he has revisited the character in four other movies, the two X-Men sequel, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", and a cameo in "X-Men: First Class", He will play the character two more times for certain, once in the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and also in his own movie coming out this weekend entitled "The Wolverine".  The upcoming movie "Paranoia" is a thriller that stars Liam Hemsworth as a rising star in tech world. He is seduced by wealth and power and becomes trapped in a power struggle between two rival billionaires (Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman) who head the two biggest tech companies.  
 
 
                                                                      
 
 
The "Seventh Son", based on the book "The Spook's Apprentice" by Joseph Delany, features Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Antje Traue, Kit Harington, Olivia Williams, Djimon Hounsou, and Jason Scott Lee just to name a few.

Coming this Friday "RED 2" the sequel to the hit movie "RED" based on a graphic novel by writer Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner. "R.I.P.D." starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges opens this Friday. Based on a Dark Horse Entertainment comic book by Peter M. Lenkov. When police officer Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) is killed in the line of duty he suddenly finds himself an afterlife assignment to the R.I.P.D. - Rest In Peace Department. He is partnered with R.I.P.D veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Jeff Bridges). "Kick Ass 2" the sequel to the highly successful movie "Kick Ass" which was based on a graphic novel by writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. takes a further step into the world of costumed vigilantes with no super powers. As more and more people start donning costumes to fight crime, the disgruntled son of a crime boss slain by Kick-Ass and Hit Girl puts together a team of costumed criminals.
 
 
                                                                                
 
 
                                                                                
 
 
Hot on the heels of the latest  incarnation of the very successful "Fast & Furious" franchise. Vin Diesel steps back into the character that made him a box office success. Happy 4th of July

Weekend Box Office - "Monster's University" was number one with $46.2 million, "The Heat" the buddy cop comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy took the number two spot with $40 million, and "World War Z" rounded out the top three with $29.8 million.
 
 
                                                                       
 
 
 
"The Wolverine" with Hugh Jackman reprising the role that he first made his mark in opens on July 26. This movie follows the events of "X-Men: The Last Stand" and takes our hero to Japan where he comes face to face with a past good deed that may alter his future. Throw into the mix popular characters from some of his best storylines like Yukio, The Yakuza, ninjas (possibly The Hand), the deadly villainess The Viper and The Silver Samurai and you have a recipe for kick ass action and Wolverine doing what he does best.
 
 
                                                                                         
 
 
                                                                                  
 
 
 
"RIPD" revolves around a recently deceased cop Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) who finds himself recruited by the R.I.P.D. - Rest In Peace Department whose job it is to capture bad souls who refuse to face final judgement. The "Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters", the long -awaited sequel to "Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" will arrive in theatres on August 7, 2013, and much to the delight of fans actor Logan Lerman reprises his role as the half human son of the Olympian god Poseidon. This time he faces a threat that could end the lives of  The Olympians, their half-human children, and possibly everyone else.
