Weekend Box Office - "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" the first Star Wars movie spin-off from Disney/Lucasfilm was number one with $155 million, Disney's "Moana" the family friendly animated movie featuring the voices of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho was number two with $12.7 million, and "Office Christmas Party" the holiday themed comedy starring an ensemble cast that features Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston was number three with 8.5 million.

                                                                         

"John Wick: Chapter 2" is scheduled to open in theaters on February 10, 2017. Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick, the legendary hitman who just wants to enjoy his retirement. After an attempt on his life that destroys his home, he discovers there is a contract out on him. He decides to go cancel the contract by killing the person who was the source of the contract, as well as anyone who gets in his way. Also starring Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynahan, and Lawrence Fishburne.

                                                                       
                                                                         

"Blade Runner 2049" scheduled for theaters October 6, 2017. The movie stars Ryan Gosling as K, a LAPD officer known as a blade runner whose job involves hunting rogue replicants -- artifical humans. He discovers a secret that leads him on a search to find a former LAPD blade runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) who went missing 30 years ago.  

                                                                           

"Justice League Dark" from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation will be available on Digital HD beginning January 24, 2017 and on Blu-ray/DVD on February 7, 2017. The Justice League encounters a supernatural force that proves too much for even their combined powers. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opens this Friday. The prequel story to "Star Wars: A New Hope" details the mission to steal the plans to The Death Star. Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso the rebel leader who leads a ragtag group on a very dangerous and definitive mission for the Rebel Alliance. 

                                                                        
                                                                       

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is scheduled to open in theaters on July 7, 2017. Tom Holland made quite a splash with his debut appearance as Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War". We finally get our first trailer for the his upcoming solo film and the word that immediately comes to mind is spectacular. Peter Parker as a high school kid is the meat and bones behind the evolution of this character and how a high school science whiz evolves into a super hero is where this movie seems aptly focused.

                                                                   

"War of the Planet of the Apes" is scheduled to open in theaters July 14, 2017. The third installment in the franchise find apes and humans gearing up for a battle to decide the ultimate supremacy of one species. Andy Serkis returns as Caesar the leader of the ape uprising trying to head off a war that he knows is inevitable.

                                                                          

"The Fate of the Furious" is scheduled to open in theaters on April 14, 2017. The newest entry in "The Fast and Furious" franchise introduces Charlize Theron as a femme fatale who somehow turns Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) against the rest of the team...his family. Weekend Box Office - Disney's "Moana" the animated movie featuring the voices of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho as "Moana' was number one with $28.2 million, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." from author J.K. Rowling the creative mind behind the "Harry Potter" series was number two with $18.1 million, and "Arrival" the sci-fi alien first contact drama starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker climbed back into the number three spot with $7.2 million.

                                                                               

Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled to open in theaters May 2017. The sequel to the highly successful Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be full of surprises, especially since the movie's plot, with the exception of a few details, is still shrouded in secrecy. Starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket, and Vin Diesel voicing Baby Groot. Also returning, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Michael Rooker as Yondo, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Glenn Close as Nova Prime. "The Mummy" is scheduled to open in theaters on June 9, 2017. The latest of update of the classic Universal monster is an epic action/adventure that stars Tom Cruise. Weekend Box Office - "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" set in the Wizarding World of 1920's New York was number one with $75 million, Marvel's "Doctor Strange" the origin story of The Marvel Comics Master of the Mystic Arts was number two with $17.6 million, and DreamWorks Animation "Trolls" featuring the voice talents Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick was number three with $17.5 million.

                                                                                  

"Kong: Skull Island" is scheduled for theaters March 10, 2017. The producers of Godzilla have re-imagined the classic giant ape King Kong for a brand new generation. In this origin tale, a team of scientists and soldiers travel to the mysterious Skull Island and discover that not only do monsters exists, but the island is home to one that has earned the title of King.   

                                                                                 
                                                                             

"Supergirl" debuts a new episode next week that kicks off "Heroes vs. Aliens", the 4 night crossover event on Monday, November 28. All four shows in the CW Network's DC TV superhero lineup will take part in this event that takes place all week long beginning next Monday with "Supergirl", followed by "The Flash", continuing in "Arrow", and concluding in DC's "Legends of Tomorrow". 


"Justice League Dark" will be available in stores on February 7, 2017. When confronted by a series of paranormal events that defy even their powers, The Justice League decides that they require a different approach to the problem. Batman forms a team of heroes specifically suited to dealing with the supernatural. Weekend Box Office - Marvel's "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Master of the Mystic Arts from the Marvel Comics was number one with $43 million, DreamWorks Animation’s"Trolls" the family friendly CG animated movie featuring the voice talents of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick was number two with $35 million, and "Arrival" the alien first contact drama starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whittaker was number three with $24 million. 

                                                                     

Disney's "Beauty and Beast" opens in theaters on March 17, 2017. The live action version of the now classic animated movie features Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as The Beast. "Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" scheduled to open in theaters July 2017. This movie is based on a classic French graphic novel series "Valérian & Laureline" that served as an inspiration for the "Star Wars" films. A passion project for writer/director Luc Besson who has finally achieved his goal of bringing this unique and epic science fiction saga to life on the big screen.

                                                                                 

"Underworld:Blood Wars" is scheduled to open in theaters on January 6, 2017. Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene the Vampire death dealer, caught between the Lycan clans and the Vampire covens in their eternal war. Selene decides to put an end to the fighting by any means necessary even if means making the ultimate sacrifice. 

                                                                                  

"Supergirl" kicks off the 4-night crossover event that begins Monday, November 28 on The CW. "Wonder Woman" opens in theaters June 2, 2017. The latest trailer recently released by Warner Bros. "The Great Wall" opens in theaters February 17, 2017. The movie features Matt Damon as a warrior and thief who goes to The Great Wall in search a weapon and finds more than he bargained for. "Logan" scheduled to open in theaters on March 3,2017. This is the one that we have both waited for and dreaded, Hugh Jackman's swan song as the popular "X-Men" character Wolverine. "John Wick: Chapter 2"  will open in theaters on February 10, 2017. "Supergirl" begins season two with new episodes beginning next Monday, Oct.10 on the CW. The new season will introduce to the series actor Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman. The move to the CW and the inclusion of The Man of Steel will lead to much anticipated team ups beginning with Superman and Supergirl, and even bigger and better team ups that span the various DC television series on the network . Weekend Box Office - "Magnificent Seven" the action/adventure western starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt was number one with $35 million, "Storks" the family friendly CG animated movie from Warner Bros.Animation was number two with $21.3 million, and "Sully" the based on a true story movie starring Tom Hanks as the title character was number three with $13.8 million.

                                                                               

Marvel's "Luke Cage" will premiere on Netflix with all episodes streaming beginning this Friday. The long-awaited series spinning off of the character's appearance on Marvel's "Jessica Jones", also on the streaming channel. For those following the Marvel series on Netflix look forward to seeing a familiar face or two, not to mention a bunch of Easter Eggs.
