Syfy aired a prequel movie to the series "Battlestar: Galactica" a few weeks back that featured a young William Adama during the First Cylon War. "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome" newly released on DVD/Bluray shows how Adama, fresh out of the military academy, undertakes a perilous first mission into Cylon controlled space that could change the course of the of a war that humanity is losing. A great companion to the "Battlestar Galactica" series.

The 3D animated family comedy "Escape from Planet Earth" opened this past weekend just outside the top three movies, yet I feel it deserves a mention because the he clever twist on the classic sci-fi tale of aliens coming to the planet. The movie features the voice talents of Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara, and William Shatner

"Silent Hill: Revelation" is a successful horror movie based on a successful video game franchise. The movie is disturbing as the video game especially since much of the imagery used in the movie is pulled from the game, definitely the stuff of nightmares.

Arrow, the most-watched series on the CW network has been renewed for a second season. The show is that rare gem of a show that while based on the character from the comics, it does not follow the comics. This is the character from a fresh perspective and it works like a charm.  The recently released Mid Season trailer is an action packed look at scenes from the show, some which have yet to be aired. The trailer ends with the jaw dropping scene from last week's episode where Oliver confronts the one villian he never expected or imagined, his own mother.

There was a new trailer for "Star Trek: Into Darkness" which featured Benedict Cumberbatch playing the film's villain, John Harrison. Seems to me that based on this trailer, he has quite a chilling voice. I can hardly wait until May.
