Weekend Box Office - Marvel's "Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Master of the Mystic Arts from the Marvel Comics was number one with $43 million, DreamWorks Animation’s"Trolls" the family friendly CG animated movie featuring the voice talents of Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick was number two with $35 million, and "Arrival" the alien first contact drama starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whittaker was number three with $24 million.
Disney's "Beauty and Beast" opens in theaters on March 17, 2017. The live action version of the now classic animated movie features Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as The Beast. The movie also features Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza.
"Ghost in the Shell" scheduled to open in theaters on March 31, 2017. Based on the internationally acclaimed manga and anime series, the movie stars Scarlett Johansson as The Major a human cyborg hybrid and the leader of the elite special ops task force Section 9. Accustomed to facing the worst criminals and extreme threats, Section 9 is tasked to stop an enemy intent on wiping out the technological advances that made The Major's cyborg body possible.
"Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" scheduled to open in theaters July 2017. This movie is based on a classic French graphic novel series "Valérian & Laureline" that served as an inspiration for the "Star Wars" films. A passion project for writer/director Luc Besson who has finally achieved his goal of bringing this unique and epic science fiction saga to life on the big screen.
"Underworld:Blood Wars" is scheduled to open in theaters on January 6, 2017. Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene the Vampire death dealer, caught between the Lycan clans and the Vampire covens in their eternal war. Selene decides to put an end to the fighting by any means necessary even if means making the ultimate sacrifice.
"Supergirl" kicks off the 4-night crossover event that begins Monday, November 28 on The CW. Starting with Supergirl and ending on DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" the epic crossover will break the barrier between worlds and time and space itself as the heroes face an alien threat intent on universal domination.
