Weekend Box Office - Disney's "The Jungle Book" the live action version of the Disney animated classic was number one with $60.8 million, "The Huntsman: Winter's War" the prequel to "Snow White and The Huntsman" debuted at number two with $20 million, and "Barbershop: The Next Cut" the comedy sequel starring Ice Cube was number three with $10.8 million.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters on May 27. Director Bryan Singer's highly anticipated follow up to "X-Men: Days of Future Past". 20th Century Fox just released a final trailer for the film that really saved the best for last. This trailer has one the best and possibly most exciting teaser scenes at the end of the trailer.

                                                                               
                                                                                 


Disney's "Alice Through the Looking Glass" opens in theaters on May 27. The sequel to the highly successful Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" the movie returns Alice to Wonderland after being absent for many years. She finds Wonderland and her friend The Mad Hatter in dire straits and imperiled by the half-human, half-clock Time.

                                                                                                              

"The Magnificent Seven" scheduled to be in theaters this September is a remake of the classic 1960 movie of the same name. The original was based on the 1954 movie "The Seven Samurai" from director Akira Kurosawa. I highly recommend both movies and I am looking forward to the remake especially since it is directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day","The Equalizer") This movie features Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and a host of notable and talented actors.  

                                                                                   

"Independence Day: Resurgence" the sequel to the 1996 movie "Independence Day" opens in theaters on June 24. Director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin attempt to recapture the magic of their original 1996 hit movie.The movie reunites original cast members Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A.Fox,Judd Hirsch, and Brent Spiner and introduces an all-star cast to tackle a brand new alien invasion.

                                                                                       

Disney's "The BFG"  the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular book by author Roald Dahl from director Steven Spielberg. Weekend Box Office - Disney's "Jungle Book" the live-action version of the animated classic opened at number one with $103.5 million, "Barbershop: The Next Cut" the comedy sequel opened at number two with $20.2 million, and "The Boss" the comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell was number three with $10.1 million.

Marvel's "Doctor Strange" opens in theaters this November. The newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe the film introduces the master of the mystic arts as portrayed by actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The film will delve into the character's origins and how he went from surgeon to sorcerer. If the trailer is any indication expect to see some mind-bending special effects as we delve into the mystical side of the Marvel Universe. 

                                                                      
                                                                           

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" opens this Friday. The movie which is advertised as a prequel to "Snow White and The Huntsman" reveals the origin of the titular Huntsman and the rise of The Evil Queen. The movie stars Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen, Emily Blunt as The Ice Queen, Jessica Chastain as The Warrior, and Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman.   

                                                                        

"Ghostbusters" the updated version of the popular 1980's film received was probably the most polarizing trailer to come out this year. Many fans of the original movie reacted negatively to the initial announcement of this movie reboot, which seem to dash all hopes of a long desired sequel. The release of the trailer did nothing to win over fans who were already dead set against the movie's existence. I'm going to keep an open mind and give this movie a chance. Here's a look at the international trailer which reveals more of the movie than the domestic trailer. 

                                                                       

Disney's "Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6. In a few short weeks we will see the release of the movie that will signal the official start of Marvel's Phase 3. Perhaps the most highly anticipated movie of the summer movie season, the movie will be chock full of guest appearances and some very unexpected surprises in store for us.

Weekend Box Office - "The Boss" the comedy about a business mogul who after being released from prison for insider trading must live with a former employee and the employee's young daughter starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Bell was number one with $23,5 million, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" the action packed first big screen meeting of The Dark Knight, The Man of Steel, and The Amazing Amazon was number two with $23.4 million, and Disney's "Zootopia" the family friendly CG animated movie featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman was number three with $14.3 million.

                                                                              

Disney's "The Jungle Book" opens this Friday.The live action version of the beloved Disney animated classic breathes new life into the characters created by author Rudyard Kipling. "Suicide Squad" arrives in theaters on August 5. This upcoming film is the next on the slate of films in the DC cinematic universe. The story of a group of super villains enlisted by the government to undertake dangerous missions with the promise of early release if they manage to succeed and survive.the movie was an unexpected surprise when announced and each new trailer has only amped up the excitement level for this movie. The latest trailer released this past weekend is certainly no exception. 

                                                                                   

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is the upcoming film based on the book by author J.K Rowling.The movie will be arrive in theaters this November and has been highly anticipated since its announcement. The latest trailer gives us more of a look at the world of wizards in 1920's New York..

                                                                                

"Justice League vs. Teen Titans" the latest DC Universe animated feature is available in stores today on Blu-Ray/DVD. The first appearance of the Teen Titans in the New 52 version of the DC animated universe is also our introduction to a team comprised of Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, Blue Beetle, and the latest Robin - Damien Wayne.

Superman: Dawn of Justice" the first live-action big screen meeting of the DC Comics Trinity- Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman was number one with $52.3 million, Disney's "Zootopia the family friendly animated film featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman was number two with $20 million, and "My Big Fat Wedding 2" the follow up to the 2002 hit romantic comedy "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was number three with $11.1 million.

                                                                                

"Ratchet & Clank" the long awaited movie based on the popular Playstation game will arrive in theaters on April 29. The movie will be CG- animated and will tell the story of these two unlikely heroes. Superman: Dawn of Justice" the blockbuster history making big screen meeting of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman was number one with $166 million, Disney's "Zootopia" the family friendly animated film featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman was number two with $24 million, and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" the sequel to the 2002 movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" debuted at number three with $17.8 million. 

                                                                               

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" the prequel to "Snow White and The Huntsman" opens in theaters on April 22. Disney's "The Jungle Book" the live action version of the Disney animated classic opens on April 15. Based on the characters created by author Rudyard Kipling, the story of Mowgli has been brought to the screen in many versions, but the Disney animated version is perhaps the most beloved. 

                                                                                                             

"The Flash" the runaway hit CW network show airs a new episode tonight. The Flash travels into the past for answers and  is pursued by a creature his journey into his past unintentionally unleashed. This action packed high octane show continues to take us to the next level.

                                                                                                              

"Arrow" the CW Network hit show takes it up a notch with a new episode tomorrow. A deadly villain from "The Flash", Brie Larvin aka "The Bug-Eyed Bandit" invades Palmer Tech and takes Felicity Smoak, Donna Smoak, and Thea Queen hostage.

                                                                                                              

DC's "Legends of Tomorrow" the hit new show that spins off of "Arrow" and "the Flash" airs a new episode on Thursday. The episode entitled "Left Behind" picks up after three members of the team are stranded in 1958 following an attack by the temporal mercenary Chronus. Ray Palmer, Sarah Lance, and Kendra Saunders have to adjust to life in the late fifties and hope that their friends return for them.

Weekend Box Office. Disney's "Zootopia" the animated family friendly film featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman was number one with $37.1 million, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" starring Shailene Woodley and an all-star cast was number two with $29 million, and "Miracles From Heaven" based on the incredible true story of the Beam family starring Jennifer Garner and Martin Henderson debuted at number three with $14.8 million.

                                                                              

"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters this Friday. The wait is almost over for this highly anticipated big screen superhero slugfest. For the first time ever The Dark Knight, The Man of Steel, and The Amazing Amazon will share the silver screen. Marvel's "Daredevil" is now streaming both Season One and the recently released Season Two of this awesome and kick-ass Netflix series. This is the version of the character that we only dared imagine. The inclusion of The Punisher and Elektra has only served to make this series even more jaw-dropping,exciting work of art. Kudos to all involved, this show completely rocks! I highly recommend it. 

                                                                                   

Disney's "The Jungle Book" will open in theaters on April 15, less than a month from now. Every trailer or TV spot that Disney releases only serves to increase my anticipation for this live action movie adaptation of the classic Disney animated feature. While both versions are based on the classic book by Rudyard Kipling,this version appears to be a bit edgier and closer to the Kipling book based on the trailers.

                                                                                 

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters May 27. This movie that follows up on the events of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and introduces their latest adversary, Apocalypse. Believed to be the first mutant and worshiped as a god for his power and immortality, Apocalypse intends to live up to his name and bring an end to human civilization.

                                                                                                                                    

"The Legend of Tarzan" scheduled for release July 1 is the latest adaptation of the character created by author Edgar Rice Burroughs. This version starring Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane is probably closer to the Burroughs books than previous versions. The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, and Cristoph Waltz.

Weekend Box Office - Disney's "Zootopia" family friendly animated feature featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman was number one with $51.3 million, "10 Cloverfield Lane" the suspense thriller starring John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead was number two with $24.7 million, and "Deadpool" Marvel's madcap mutant "merc with a mouth" starring Ryan Reynolds held on at number three with $10.9 million.

                                                                                

Marvel's "Daredevil" Season 2 premieres this Friday with all episodes streaming on Netflix. Prepare yourself to eye guzzle this exceptional adaptation of Marvel's "man without fear". This season is easily expected to outshine the first season which is saying quite a lot. The upcoming season's addition of The Punisher and Elektra makes that outcome seems highly possible. Throw into this mix the mystic order of ninja-like assassins know as The Hand and a more action packed, high stakes new season is almost guaranteed.

"The Divergant Series: Allegiant" opens in theaters this Friday. The latest installment in "The Divergent Series" expands to outside the walled city of Chicago and turns everything upside down. Tris (Shailene Woodley) who is Divergent and is considered a threat to their society, becomes the one hope of saving them all.

                                                                                    

Marvel's "Captain America Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6. The latest trailer released by Marvel Entertainment has raised anticipation to a fever pitch. We are treated to a really significant first look at Spider-Man making his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As you can imagine, or witnessed the entirety of fandom went completely bananas, myself included.

This movie reboot which happens to reference and pay homage to the original movie in the trailer and with a plethora of Easter eggs may become one of the success stories of the summer. When originally announced the idea of an all female "Ghostbusters" reboot caused instant fan outrage across the internet. However, that tide has turned around since the reveal of the director, the cast, the first images, and now this first look trailer.   

                                                                                     

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" is the new movie from director Tim Burton based on the worldwide bestselling book of the same name. Scheduled to open in theaters on September 30, the movie stars Eva Green as Miss Peregrine and features an all-star cast including Asa Butterworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Kim Dickens, Allison Janney, Chris O'Dowd, Rupert Everett, and Terence Stamp.
